Have you ever visited Coastal Georgia? We’ve been twice and can vouch for one of the best St Simons Island Resorts, King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort. My family and I visited as a part of a media trip. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Road tripping is one of my favorite things to do as a family. It’s something about the open road and being in the car with your loved ones that makes it special. Last month, we hit the road for a short 3-hr drive to Coastal Georgia to visit one of our favorite St Simons Island Resorts. We’ve been to the King and Prince Golf and Beach Resort before but it was during the winter time so we missed out on a lot of the resort’s amenities. This time around we visited during what I would say is the perfect time of the year to visit. We arrived during mid-August right before the fall weather took over. Honestly, I think this is probably the perfect time of year to visit the resort. The kids on the island were back in school which meant that the resort was less crowded and we could easily roam the island without loads of traffic.
What It’s Really Like Staying at One of The Best St Simons Island Resorts
How to Get There
St Simons Island is about 3 hours North of Orlando, making it a quick shot on the highway. We hit the road in the 2018 Toyota Highlander and were at the resort in no time. Let me tell you that I’ve never been more in love with a car in my life. We loved it so much that we named her Stella (check out our Instastories with Stella here). The Highlander made our trip beyond memorable. With all of the features, I felt like we were in luxury car heaven. T had her own a/c controls in the backseat which was by far my favorite feature. I can’t tell you how many times I hear “I’m hot” or “I’m cold” in a single road trip. Talk about life saver!
As long as you’ve got your road trip essentials and activities to keep your kids busy, the drive will be smooth sailing. There isn’t much to see along the way but you’ll find everything you need once you arrive on the island.
The property is beyond beautiful. It was originally built in 1935. Since then it has undergone numerous renovations. What I love about the property is that it still has a lot of its original charm. The original stained glass windows still remain intact in their event rooms. Our room was in the Oceanfront Building which has 55 rooms and a perfect view of the pools, beaches, and ocean. Relaxing poolside and on the beach is exactly what we needed to kick off the school year.
What to Do While You’re There
Even though this was our second time visiting the King and Prince Resort, the property was nothing short of breathtaking this time around too. The resort has no shortage of amenities. Three pools, one hot tub, two tennis courts, fitness center, and a Royal Treatment Cottage. Did I mention that the property is the only St Simons Island Resort on the beach? We spent most of our time at the beach and in the pools. I love that ECHO Restaurant and the Sea Shack have a variety of menu items available to order when you’re lounging out by the pool.
If there aren’t enough amenities at the resort, the island has plenty of activities to offer. The concierge at the resort can set up many of the activities for you while you’re staying with them.
Some of our favorites are the trolley tour, bike riding, and museums. T absolutely loves the St Simons Lighthouse and Fort Frederica. The best thing about most of the activities on the island is that they are affordable and family friendly. You can learn so much about the island’s history.
Thanks to Toyota for allowing us to road trip in the awesome 2018 Toyota Highlander.

I love that the resort is right on the beach! Great views and you get a prime spot in the morning. The resort looks amazing and relaxing . . . I’ve never been to St. Simons Island but I might have to visit now!
