Does anyone else cringe at the thought of all the back to school madness? This DIY spin wheel will make prepping after school meals fun and stressless. This DIY Spin Wheel and Easy After School Meals post is written by me on behalf of Tyson Foods, Inc. All opinions are mine alone.

Does anyone else cringe at the thought of all the back to school madness? Between shopping for school supplies, meeting a new teacher, and making new friends this school year is going to be hectic. Getting Tatiana back into her school year routine is always so hard after sleeping in for months and not being used to a tight schedule. Summer is over now and we’ll be getting back on our schedule but luckily we have a super fun way of choosing our after school meals. I wanted to put a fun twist on choosing Tatiana’s after school meals so that she’s not stressed about just coming home to do homework and I’m not stressed about her indecisiveness about what she wants to eat.
DIY Spin Wheel
I came up with the idea for a DIY spin wheel because Tatiana loves a good game. I also think it’s something about the suspense of the spin that makes it fun too. The spin wheel is easy to make and a fun activity for the whole family.
Supplies
- Lazy Susan
- X-Acto knife
- Wooden dowels
- Chalkboard paint color of choice
- Washi tape
- Glue
- Sand paper
- 12×24 piece of wood for a backer
- Letter stickers
Directions
- Start by sanding down your lazy susan. This will remove the stain and allow the paint to adhere to the board.
- Paint the lazy susan with the chalkboard paint once it is completely sanded down.
- Paint the wood for the backer.
- Cut the dowels into 1” pieces.
- Once the lazy susan is dry, use the washi tape to create 6 even triangles.
- Use the glue to adhere the lazy susan and wooden dowels to the backer. Allow at least 72 hours to dry.
- Add your after school meals to the board.
- Spin away, have fun, and enjoy your meal!

Finally, you can add all of your after school meals to the wheel once your DIY spin wheel is done. For an added bonus, you can add more triangles to your wheel for drink and condiment options. We keep it simple with our favorites: Jimmy Dean® sausage links, Tyson® Fun Nuggets, Hillshire Farm® Turkey lunch meat. Not only are they quick and easy options for us but our family loves them. The slow-cooked, oven roasted turkey is our go-to choice for turkey and cheese roll-ups especially when we have to head to an after school activity like swimming or dance. After Tatiana takes her spin and finds out what she’ll be eating, we head to the kitchen to make her meal and dig in.
What are some fun ways you make prepping after school meals fun and stressless?

You are such a fun mom! This is such a grooms idea. I’d like to get this set up this summer, I think my kids would love it.
Your kids would love it! It’s such a fun way to come up with after school snacks.
I used to love tyson chicken nuggets growing up. I was a lock-key child, so after school i would let myself in while my parents were out work and pop them in the oven with french fries and enjoy. I’m vegan now, but this was a childhood favorite.
LOVE this! What a great idea for after school snacks but for lunch in the summer! This is where we are like, what do you want for lunch today, um I don’t know. It is the same old every single day. This is a fun idea for kids. Thanks for sharing!
How fun is this! I would have loved this for snack time, who am I kidding I might make one of these for myself and put on the fridge. I’ll be honest sometimes it’s hard to remember to eat, much less decide what to eat as an adult.
I struggle with this as an adult too!
This is a pretty neat idea for kids in general, not just after school. My kids during summer break are hungry it seems like every five minutes. So they have roughly 5 snacks between the 3 main meals daily. This would be fun to make.
Oh wow, this is great! My sister’s son is going to school soon and she needs all the time, so this kind of easy school meals will save her. I will be sharing this with her! Thank you!
