Has your closet seen its fair share of wardrobe trends come and go? You can rest assured that these 10 timeless wardrobe essentials won‘t lose their street-chic appeal.
Has your closet seen its fair share of wardrobe trends come and go? It happens to us all. As a wife and mompreneur, I‘m constantly faced with the battle of buying into the trends while having to dress comfortably for my day-to-day. I’ll admit that after Tristan, I completely let myself go for a little while. My daily uniform was sweatpants and t-shirts even in the summer. It was bad!
Getting dressed and being cute doesn’t have to be so difficult every single day. I could have trendy clothes that looked great on me without breaking the bank and without have tons of clothes in my closet that would never get worn. How? I created a wardrobe by using timeless pieces that will never go out of style as my foundation. You can rest assured that these 10 key pieces won‘t lose their street-chic appeal. These 10 pieces are the building blocks of a perfect wardrobe. So whether you’re looking to start over or simply want to update your look, start with these basics.
10 Timeless Wardrobe Essentials
1. Denim jacket
A slim, fitted jacket is the best choice. A denim jacket can instantly transistion any look from dressy to casual. If you want to take your look from dressy to casual in a pinch, throw the denim jacket over your shoulders.
2. All-in-one crossbody
If you don‘t have an all-in-one crossbody in your wardrobe, you definitely must add one. You can sport all-in-one crossbody as a wristlet for those nights on the town and a crossbody for your daytime errands. One of my absolute favorites is the one I styled here from Vera Bradley.
3. Graphic t-shirt
Graphic tees are perfect for dressing up or down. The best styles are soft with a relaxed fit. Pair it with jeans and sneakers during the day for a casual look or with jeans and a classic pair of pumps for something a little dressier.
4. Leather backpack
A leather backpack, like the one I styled here, is a classy alternative to the age old backpack, and can be used for anything from traveling to everyday use.
5. Button down shirt
Button down shirts are so versatile! You can pair it with your favorite pencil skirt for a meeting or jeans (like this look) for a casual look. Add a patterned button down shirt to your wardrobe that you can tie around your waist to take any look to the next level.
6. Little black dress
Every woman needs a little black dress in their arsenal. How many times have you stared deeply into your closet trying to figure out what you’re going to wear to church, a business meeting, or your kid’s school events? A little black dress, or a little blue dress like the one I’m wearing, can go such a long way. You can dress it up or dress it down with the shoes and accessories you match with it. I love the little black dress that I wore here too! It’s perfect for date nights and networking events.
7. Flats or sneakers
Flats and sneakers are a great solution for giving your feet a break from heels plus you can style them with virtually any look.
8. Pleated skirts
Pleated skirts have my heart! They are hands down my favorite. You can wear them in any season and they look great no matter what your shape is. Style them with a graphic tee (like this) for a casual look or a blouse for a dressy look. In the winter, you can style it with an oversized sweater and boots.
There’s nothing better than a good set of pumps. I mean how can you not live without a pair of them? Pumps are the perfect shoe for almost any outfit. Choose a pair of colored pumps if you want to add a fun pop of color to your look. These red ones are my go-tos.
The fit and wash of your jeans make all of the difference. Choose the style that works best for your body shape and makes you feel the most comfortable. Honestly, I don’t have that many pairs of jeans in my closet because I wear the same ones over and over. I love the ones I wore here, here, and here.
