Ever wondered which blog plugins and widgets are best for your blog? I’m giving you a rundown of a few of my favorites. Which ones can you not live without?
Being a blogger is no easy task. Figuring out what works best for you and your blog isn’t easy either. When I first started out 2 years ago, my blog was hosted on wordpress.com. Switching over to a self-hosted site was pretty simple but in a backend full of plugins and widgets, I had no idea what to do!
There were thousands of plugins and widgets to choose from and I had no idea where to start. After doing a little research I found what worked best for me and my blog. I now have almost 30 plugins and widgets and am always finding new ones to try out.
6 Widgets & Blog Plugins You Need For Your WordPress Blog
Here’s a list of my current faves so far:
Click to Tweet
This plugin is one of my faves to use when I want to create tweetable content for my readers. I can put quotes or takeways that by one click of a button can be tweeted by you.
J Query Pin it Button For Images
If you’re not pinning you’re images, you’re making a huge mistake. Pinterest is a great source of traffic for your blog. You don’t have to blog about crafts or recipes to pin your posts. You can and you should pin every single post. Installing this plugin can make it easy for you to pin any of your images and it makes it easier for your readers as well.
Simple Instagram Embed
This plugin is definitely at the top of my list of favorites! How many times have you shot a photo on your phone and posted it on Instagram, but want to put it in a blog post? This plugin lets you share your images directly from Instagram into your post without losing any of the likes or comments. That’s pretty awesome right?
WordPress Editorial Calendar
1 word – LIFESAVER! Quite honestly, I don’t know what I would do without this plugin. It is absolutely the best! The WordPress Editorial Calendar helps me keep my life in check. It helps me to schedule posts in advance and remember what posts are going live and on what day. If you don’t use an editorial calendar, you need one!
Yoast SEO
Having an SEO plugin is the best thing you can do for your blog. By using the correct keywords, it can help you to get into the top pages of those dreaded Google searches. SEO is essential to growing your blog.
Revive Old Post
One of the things I struggle with is recirculating my old posts to social media. With Revive Old Post, I no longer have to worry about that because it does it for me. By making a few tweaks in the settings, my old posts are now tweeted a few times a day.
How I love this list! Thanks for sharing! I recently downloaded Yoast plugin. It truly is helping me with tweak my posts (I’m very SEO illiterate :-))
You’re welcome. So glad this list helped you.
Thank you Bianca! These are going in the To DO notebook (#becausealwayslearning).
